Why the Superbowl matters?

I don’t get American Football – never have, and doubt I ever will.  I mean, what the hell is ‘taking a knee’?

Anyway, whilst the Superbowl may matter to hundreds of millions of Americans, for most people in the advertising industry the interest lies in the ads that run. The astronomical amounts spent on advertising (c3m USD for a 30 second ad) make it some of the most expensive real estate in the world.  Yet thousands of companies do it and sometimes there are some belters.
